State of Publishing: A roundtable on October 8

focused roundtable on PUBLISHING.

There are so many things we can learn from one another. What's worked. What hasn't. What lessons we've learned from running newspapers, magazines, blogs or making photos, videos, or status updates.

This forum invites a round view of perspectives to get back to learning from one another. Come with an open mind, and be ready to listen as well as share your view. Great conversation has a center, not sides.

ABOUT MERCURY STUDIO

Mercury Studio coworking space

Conversation space: Mercury Studio

Mercury Studio a community-minded coworking space located at 407 N. Mangum Street in downtown Durham, NC. We are a place for for artists, independent professionals, and small businesses to work, but also to be known, encouraged, and plugged into a greater social and professional network. Read more about Mercury here.

WHY WE'RE HOSTING THIS

Orangutan Swing is dedicated to creating offline conversation space. We use the techniques from Edward de Bono's Six Thinking Hats as well as William Isaacs' Dialogue and the Art of Thinking Together for our facilitation.

We've conducted more than 200 conversation tables in Seattle, Durham, and County Cork, Ireland, since 2005, and this year, our goal is to make 30.

So far, we've hosted "Make: What's the creative process?", "Scale: How do you know when and if to grow?", "(re)WORK," as well as several others.

Learn about Orangutan Swing's dialogue design here.

More about Orangutan Swing's Dipika Kohli is here

Funds raised from Orangutan Swing events go towards production and administration of future ones. Be a part of our story. Join our conversations by registering at the top of this page to be in the know! :)

Organizer

Design Kompany & Orangutan Swing

Design Kompany is a two-person studio that designs dialogue. We make great conversation fluid, so we get to potent concepts. That's where we build designs for brand identity, and locate the words to best describe what our clients do in ways that are compelling and authentic, too.

We started in Raleigh, NC, as undergraduates in 1995. After 10 years in County Cork, Ireland, as well as Seattle, we're back and amazed at the local evolution in Durham, NC.
